Hello, my name is Kathleen and my story starts 24 years ago when I stopped smoking the first time and gained 30 lbs.  After I gained all the weight I tried dieting at the time, dexatrim was big and I used that.  The only problem was it made me feel nervous and on edge.  After a couple weeks that didn’t seem to work, so I tried another brand. After that really didn’t work I gave up for a while and gained some more weight.  At that point I started smoking again because I thought that would help me lose the weight.  It did a little, I lost 25 of the pounds I gained but not all of it.  After several years I decided to quit smoking again and I gained 45 pounds which put me 20 pounds more than I was when I started when I went back to smoking. So I decided to go to the doctor and ask him for some help since I didn’t want to start smoking again.  He gave me some diet pills and they made me nervous and I still wanted to eat everything in sight.  When that failed, I tried Atkins.  That worked great in the beginning then I got real tired of the foods I was allowed to eat and started eating carbs again and gained the weight back.  Then I tried the Heller diet which was based on eating all you wanted within 30 minutes and nothing else until the next meal.  That didn’t work.  Then I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar diet and that didn’t work.  By this time I was thinking maybe I should have stayed with the smoking.  I gave the diet effort a break and ended up gaining a few more lovely pounds.  Then I decided to try Nutri-system with a friend.  That was OK, the food isn’t very good and I seemed hungry between meals. Then I thought I would try Jenny Craig because another friend of mine said the food tasted better.  So I started the program and after and few weeks, it got to be so expensive that I thought for what I had to eat it wasn’t worth it.  Then I decided to try weight watchers because I was told all you have to do is count points and you could eat what you wanted.  That lasted 3 weeks and I think counting points reminded me of counting calories and that wasn’t something I wanted to for the rest of my life. Next I tried the 3 hr. diet and thought it just might work.  After a few weeks I found it was hard to remember to pack a snack when I was going out or to bring to work.  I also noticed that the program didn’t give me the motivation to keep going so I ended the program a whopping 6 pounds less than I started.

Kathleen’s Success Tips:

 

· Take the herbal dietary supplement, one before eating breakfast and one before eating lunch.  It keeps my cravings at bay throughout the day.

· I buy the sugar free Russell Stover Candies and eat those as my evening snack.  You can’t tell they’re sugar free and I love them. It’s like a special treat at the end of a long hard day. They really do taste like the real thing!

· I eat a protein bar for my morning snack and drink a protein shake for my afternoon snack.  They are easy to pack in my purse and I keep a supply at work and in the car with me so I never forget to have them around.

· I love the non-breaded chicken wings from the grocery frozen food section and usually eat them for dinner with a salad topped with feta cheese. I bake the wings in the oven so they are not deep fried.

· I stock up on low sugar or low carb snack items. There are so many low sugar or sugar free products available today so it’s easy to have a large selection of snacks on hand.

· I plan my meals before going to the grocery store so I can get all the items I would like to have for the week.  It makes it easier to stick to the plan and I didn’t have the urge to eat something that wasn’t healthy.

Before I started the program I gave all the starch and sugar based foods in the house to my friends and family.  I don’t keep them in the house at all anymore.  Out of sight out of mind.
